The University of Victoria ‘Vikes’ Hockey Club were back in action on Saturday evening in Cheney, WA as they picked up another 2 points and defeated the Eastern Washington University ‘Eagles’ 8-4. Zack Wear had a strong outing in the crease, stopping 42 of 46 shots faced. Patrick Holland (#23) led the team in points, with 4 goals and 1 assist. Shawn Mueller (#16) was not far behind, with a goal and 3 assists. The other goal scorers were defenseman Kyle Bird (#4), Brandon Volpe (#18), and Luciano Somerville (#19). Carsen Willans (#7) assisted 3 goals resulting in being chosen as the second star of the game.
The Vikes, a young team with 11 rookies on the roster, continue to learn how to play together and what it takes to be a successful team in the BCIHL. Head Coach Harry Schamhart stresses that forward Patrick Holland (#23) is on the leading edge in helping to develop this team into one that will be successful throughout the season. Rookies, vets, and team staff alike continue to learn from Patrick as he brings his professional hockey experience to the UVic Hockey Club. It is sure an exciting time to be a Vikes Hockey fan.
